Orange County Press Club announces new board members, expands leadership team

The Orange County Press Club (OC Press Club) is pleased to announce the results of its recent Board of Director’s election and welcome four new members to its leadership team. 

In addition, the OC Press Club board this year voted to expand the total membership of the board from nine to its traditional slate of 11 members, said Board President David N. Young, reflecting the organization’s growth and commitment to supporting local journalists.

“Americans everywhere now better understand the critical role played by a fact-based journalism community, and we are excited to see the interest expressed by local journalists in working to enhance the overall journalism community,” he said.

New OC Press Club Board members include (alphabetical by last name):

Sharael Kolberg – Laguna Beach-based travel writer with 20+ years covering adventure, wellness, and luxury travel for outlets including Travel + Leisure and National Geographic Travel. She also serves as 1st Vice Chair of the SATW Freelance Council and mentors emerging travel journalists.

Erika Taylor – A photojournalist and reporting fellow at Voice of OC, Erika covers transportation, libraries, and culture across Orange County. She is a Chapman University graduate and currently pursuing her master’s degree in journalism at USC.

John Underwood – An experienced journalist whose work spans NPR, KLON/KJAZZ,Event-News Enterprise, the Orange County RegisterOC Weekly, and Voice of OC.

Tori (Victoria) Walker – Founder of Victori Solutions, a Southern California–based public relations and social media agency. She works closely with journalists across print, digital, and broadcast to develop compelling, community-focused stories and is committed to supporting ethical journalism and strong media relationships.

Board members returning to the board include (alphabetical by last name):

Hosam Elattar – Award-winning reporter at Voice of OC covering education, housing, local government, and community issues across North Orange County.

Carrie Freitas – Former journalist and editor, Carrie runs KTM Agency in Newport Beach and contributes on-air for Fox 11 KTTV. 

Breeana Greenberg – Freelance journalist and USC grad student passionate about hyper-local news.

Patrice Marsters – Veteran journalist and former managing editor of OC Weekly, now focused on public school PR and mentoring aspiring journalists. 

Destiny Torres – Multimedia journalist at LAist covering Southern California, previously reporting for the Orange County Register.

Andrew Turner – Chairman of the scholarship committee and a reporter for the Daily Pilot with experience covering local news and prep sports.

David N. Young – Editor at Integrity Newspapers, overseeing the Seal Beach Sun, the Catalina Islander, and the Event-News Enterprise.

Departing board members include (alphabetical by last name):

Clara Beard – Former managing editor of the Laguna Beach Independent.

Hanna Kang – Reporter at the LA Local, former reporter at the Orange County Register covering education and local cities, with additional past roles in political and data journalism.

“We are grateful to the journalists leaving the board who have provided exceptional service to the journalism community, and we are thrilled to welcome our new board members,” Young said. “Together, we’re committed to supporting Orange County journalists, fostering community connections, and celebrating outstanding journalism in our region.”
